HOW DOES A GREEN PHYSIOTHERAPIST TREAT A CONDITION EG. LOWER BACK PAIN?

During the initial consultation, the therapist will ask some questions about your lower back pain. Following our questioning, we will take a look at a few movements and assessments in assessing the root of the problem. This will be followed up with a provisional diagnosis.

We will then aim to create a goal together with a timeline of your recovery time, and various functional tasks you need to be doing to achieve your goals.

Treatment will include advice and education on your lower back pain with hands-on manual therapy techniques to achieve your goals. Following our treatment plan, we will then execute a tailored exercise program for you to complete in adjunction of our therapy.

Normally, this is where most physio clinics will cease their treatment. However, the Green Therapist, will follow you up the next day and ask how you felt after our treatment and if there are any questions or concerns that you may have. This will similarly be the case if you were to see our therapist once a fortnight, as we would call for a checkup in a week's time. As we pride ourselves on building a long-lasting relationship with our patients.

HOW DOES A GREEN ACUPUNCTURIST TREAT A CONDITION?

During your first initial assessment, our health practitioner will listen to your complaints and will then provide an initial assessment using Chinese Medicine diagnostic techniques from checking your pulse to checking your tongue. The form of pulse diagnostics is a Chinese Medicine practice that has been used for thousands of years and the tongue gives us vital information about your condition to further narrow down a diagnostic. When assessing the tongue we will look at the shape, color, and other qualities to detect the "heat" in the body and fluid circulating for signs of stagnation.

After completing the diagnostic we can then move to a treatment plan where we select "treatment channels" to treat by inserting sterile single-use needles, the same size as a human hair to stimulate the pathophysiology of "QI" (oxygen) and blood to the surrounding body, organ, skin, and tissues. You will be lying comfortably on a bed when this is happening and the needles are left in situ for 30-40minutes for the effects to take place. A heat lamp will also be provided to stimulate certain areas of stagnation or disruption in QI. The typical sensations you can feel once the needles are in place are heaviness, or a dull achy feeling, tingling, etc. Other therapies such as cupping or electroacupuncture may be used but will be discussed with you prior to treatment. In addition to acupuncture, it may also be recommended to pair treatment with Chinese herbal medicine, but will be discussed with you during your initial consultation. Following the consultation, the Green Practitioner will discuss how you feel and the following treatment plan.

DOES PHYSIOTHERAPY OR ACUPUNCTURE HURT?

Acupuncture: There should be minor to no discomfort when the needles are going in. Patients explain it as getting lightly pinched. Our practitioner's various techniques of inserting the needle with minor discomfort.

Physiotherapy: Our hands-on manual therapy or deeper level of soft tissue release may cause minor discomfort depending on individual pain tolerance, but we often get told it "is a good type of pain". None of the treatments should be unbearable so please let us know if it is unbearable.
